Scot Ryan, who represents the Nellist family came along and made a short speech, introduced himself to the Diamonds family and joined in the celebrations. Scot would like to add the following statement for the benefit of anyone who was unable to make it along on Friday, After hearing of the potential closure of the Speedway earlier this year and seeing what it meant to the die hard loyal fan base and taking into account the many years of history the club has local businessman Mark Nellist has donated financial and Management support to the Club to ensure its sustainability. The Nellist family own and operate several successful transport related businesses throughout the North East and support numerous Sporting Clubs and community initiatives.
